Myra holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s degree in English. She taught in the Johnston County School system and at Johnston Community College. Upon her retirement from the school system, Myra came to work at FPC Smithfield as secretary, where she was already employed as church organist. Myra has studied both piano and organ privately for many years. She serves on the Johnston County Heritage Center board and was recently appointed to serve on the Johnston County Arts Council.

Originally from Albemarle, NC, Myra has one daughter, Emily who lives in Durham and works at Duke University.
